About this project:
Dance Dance Hooray (DDH) is an online resource where dance educators find everything from playful games to comprehensive lesson plans. Their mission? To make dance education as enjoyable and effective as possible, with a keen eye on developmentally appropriate learning.
My challenge was to wrap this vision into a brand identity that screamed modern, fun, and professional—without tipping into the too-juvenile territory. Dance educators, the main audience, needed to see DDH as a peer and a partner, not just another educational tool.
So, I went bold and expressive with the typography, choosing a design that speaks to DDH‘s forward-thinking approach to dance. The color palette was next. Kelly green became the lead, symbolizing growth and harmony, vital for the nurturing space DDH creates in dance education. A dash of energetic orange for creativity, and a soft peachy pink laying down a warm, reassuring background. Together, these colors work to keep the brand fresh, young, and engaging.
But what’s a dance without movement? To bring in that kinetic energy, the pattern echoes the fun and excitement of dance. This pattern isn’t just decorative; it’s a visual cue to the rhythmic joy and creativity that dance educators bring into their classes every day with DDH’s resources.
I designed DDH’s brand identity to be a visual handshake—welcoming, vibrant, and full of promise. It tells dance educators, “I‘m here to make your job easier, more creative, and even more fun.” The new look for DDH blends a modern design with the spirited essence of dance education, making it a standout resource for educators who want to focus on what they love most—teaching dance. In this refreshed identity, every color, typeface, and pattern is a nod to the exciting, supportive world DDH has built for dance educators far and wide.
